FROM THE ARTIST:
Over and over again through the Psalms, we see coupled acknowledgement of the prowling enemy with praise for the refuge found. To be honest, I never really paid attention to the “enemy” parts of these recurring passages…until I truly saw the reality of the global orphan crisis. The enemy’s prowl is real. It’s real in the failures of the legal systems; it’s real in the gender inequalities; it’s real in the impossible access to acceptable healthcare; it’s real in the endless ways the vulnerable are exploited for the gains of others. But some organizations are changing the narrative. Together (represented in the pair of lines, the trinitarian circles), another narrative is possible. Some believe in the dignity of every life, and that being poor does not mean you are worthless. Some believe that a familial bond is one not to be broken but upheld and empowered. Some are the exception, and these ‘some’ are bringing transformation.

“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:9-10
